Take Down Notes: IELTS Reading Test (General)

What are the topics that can be covered in the reading test for the General Training version? It’s usually based from a series of texts having topics that are everyday or common life situations. These series of possible text formats can be notices, advertisements, magazines, manuals, etc. You can get an IELTS online training for practice tests to get yourself used to answer the test and be familiar with the different text formats.

Similar to the academic version, this part of test will have three or more parts. Expect up to 40 questions to be answered for this part of the test. There will be topics that may assess their ‘social survival’ in an English speaking country.

The questions may involve yourself providing facts from the variety of texts. There may also be a part of the test that will comprise of more complex use of language and can require you longer writing tests. Do take note that there will be no half points, so once you get one part wrong in a question, you will automatically lose points for that.

Lastly, this type of exam may have different types of questions. So in any way, you will have to prepare yourself to answer different types of questions. It can contain multiple choice questions, completing a diagram, answer short questions, matching lists/phrases, classifying questions, doing a summary, etc. Most of the IELTS online training courses will cover a whole lot of these types of questions so you need not to worry on missing out any test questions. This is why although the IELTS exam may be easy, it will still be tricky so candidates resolve to doing an IELTS online review or do a review class in order to get higher band scores.
