Let’s Talk About The General Training Module

The IELTS exam has two types of exam formats; the Academic and the General Training. Both types of exams do have four parts that are technically the same, but have some parts that are different. If you will be taking the IELTS online review anytime soon, it is essential to figure out beforehand the type of test you should be taking before actually delving into an IELTS online preparation.

The general training module is deemed easier than the academic module. The reading and writing parts of the IELTS exam differs from the academic module, where the subject matter may only focus on broad social and workplace contexts. If you will be taking an IELTS online review, you will be able to get access to practice tests that can help you get familiar with what the general training is like. Having the IELTS online preparation will give writing practice tasks like writing a letter of a couple of situations that can be likely to appear in the actual test.

The reading test will also be different than the academic module. The reading test may come up with different question types such as multiple choices, short answers, sentence completion, a summary, classifications, etc. The test topics may be from advertisements, notices, booklets, newspapers, manuals, leaflets, magazines, etc. Basically, the questions will come from everyday reading materials. The academic module, on the other hand may cover topics like these, however, it will focus more on more serious and scholarly topics for this will match the purpose of the academic module.

This is why it’s important that you know or understand the difference between the two types of exams. If the purpose of taking the IELTS exam is for working, migrating, studying, etc. to an English speaking country, it’s best to ask the type of test you should take to be able to successfully enroll for an IELTS online review. For those wondering, it’s actually not a requirement to enroll for an IELTS online preparation course, but it’s highly preferred among the candidates most especially if it will be your first time taking the exams. Though this type of review isn’t required, it sure is worth it to take one for higher band scores.
