Set your goals
The band score you want or need to achieve may help motivate you. Setting goals can help boost your interest to keep up with the IELTS online review. You must also keep in mind why you need to take this exam. Maybe you want to do this to pursue your studies abroad, or this is for your career abroad. Either way, keep that goal as your motivation to do your best with the online course.
Read/watch in English!
Aside from the IELTS online course you are taking, it will be helpful and more entertaining if you read newspapers, journals or any articles. It will not only help you be familiar with the English language, but it’s also important to keep yourself updated with the current issues for a speaking or writing topic. Discussing these issues with friends in English may also help improve your fluency in English and respond fluently for the speaking and writing exam.
It’s also helpful if you watch news channels, movies, shows or even music in English; most especially if you’re not a native English speaker, or you probably don’t enjoy reading the newspaper. Aside from the entertainment you get from watching, you also learn to be more fluent.
Don’t memorize
One common thing candidates do is to memorize everything they think is needed. Doing this will only let you struggle more with the exams. The best way to do it is to take it slow and focus on your IELTS online review. Learning a language won’t be as easy as memorizing every word or sentence. You just might end up not being able to speak it at all.
Everyone will be different
Don’t get too hard on yourself if your friends, or some people you know will learn the course after only a month or two. Remember that every person have its own pace. You just might not find the right way to study, or it really just takes time for you to process everything. Whatever the case, it’s best to learn the language at your own pace. At the end of the day, it’s you who will struggle if you don’t learn it right, not your friends or the people you know.
Practice
The most cliché-but-true tip. Keep practicing. It’s better if you practice every single day. Spare some hours each day to practice on your English for the four areas of the exams. It’s good to focus on your weakest areas, but you must also constantly practice on every area. Don’t forget to give yourself a break between the tasks. The secret is to learn it slowly and regularly to work towards your goal. Most importantly, enjoy learning. Keep these in mind and you are good to go!
